This year, I’m doing a series called ABC Explorers: Reading, Playing, and Exploring A-Z where I’ll share picture book lists, fun activities, and adventures that correlate with each letter of the alphabet. I wanted to focus more on the alphabet with my younger kids but in a more playful and natural way. These Letter A Picture Books are a great place to start. We’ll focus on one letter about every two weeks to give your kids the time to learn, practice, and have fun! So pick a few books from this list, point out the letter and the sound, and enjoy spending time reading with your kids!
There a lots of good books to choose from on this list. My three year old loves See You Later, Alligator because of the animals, and Ten Apples Up On Top. My five year old liked most of the books on this list, but he has been enjoying Claude: The True Story of a White Alligator, Aaaligator, The Good Night Airport, and The Golden Acorn (We love all Katy Hudson books!!). Also, all of the airplane/airport books mentioned here are great for introducing airports and traveling to your kids if they have never been on a plane. Happy reading!
For a little bonus, I also wanted to share a few nonfiction books about Animals that you could easily use for the Letter A! We have had the “Little Kids First Big Book of Animals” for a few years now, and the kids have loved looking through all of the pictures of their favorite animals. This year for Christmas, we purchased the first two books below, and they have been great! The encyclopedia style book has any animal that you could think of and is currently my three year old’s favorite book to flip through for long periods of time. My five year old loves the wild facts book and learning new things!
I hope you find something that you and your child can enjoy from these Letter A Picture Books!
